First Week Back Teaching PPA Cover
Back to school for the kids and back to school for our Junior Jam staff. I spent the first school week in London supporting our new Junior Jam PPA cover teachers. It’s been a busy year for Junior Jam and as a result we have had a lot of new schools booking our PPA cover provision. I started the week down in Biggin Hill with Daryl, our new iMedia PPA cover teacher. We spent the day teaching iJam which is our music production based PPA cover subject and started with key stage 2 who really enjoyed using the iPads to create drumbeats and short pieces of music. The staff were so taken by the subject that they joined in too. The following day took me to N2 where I spent the day team teaching African drumming workshops with another of our new PPA cover teachers Edmund. The students thoroughly enjoyed learning the correct hand drumming techniques and practiced these with call and response tasks. My final day in London was spent at two schools teaching computing and Samba drumming. Both schools were very excited to have Junior Jam deliver the music and computing curriculum because all our PPA cover teachers specialise in their subjects.
