Goodbye to the 2022 Summer Holiday Clubs
Hello all,
Today marks the final day of Junior Jam’s 2022 Summer Holiday Clubs. This year’s fun filled clubs took place at several schools across Bradford – Bankfoot Primary School, Bowling Park Primary, Dixon’s Music Primary, Feversham Primary Academy, St Columba’s Primary and Weymouth Community Centre.
Each club was funded by the Department of Education within Bradford and Kirklees Council. Junior Jam have utilised the funding to encourage children, specifically those that are eligible for free school meals and aged between 5-11, to attend the clubs, engage in the various activities on offer and discover how to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Each club was incredibly popular, with 30-35 children signed up, and numerous additional children on the waiting lists.
Junior Jam like to start each day with a group game of dodgeball so the children can quickly get to know each other, form friendships, and learn how to work together as a team. After dodgeball, the groups are split into two, based upon age, with one group taking part in PE and the other group Media. This year’s PE sessions included Athletics, Boxercise, Cricket, Football and Rugby. The iMedia lessons utilised iPads and a variety of different apps such as Garageband, Photoshop Express, Stop Motion to create an array of different types of Media.
At lunchtime each child is provided with a free, healthy packed lunch catering for any food allergies, intolerances, and dietary requirements. Then its straight into an afternoon full of more activities.
The children at this year’s clubs were incredibly enthusiastic while taking part in both PE and Media and we hope to see them again next year!
