Mr iPad Man

My first day as Mr iPad Man.

I was delighted to be offered the role of an iMedia instructor. A chance to practice what I am passionate about I thought to myself. I had worked previously with schools and children and was looking forward to the opportunity. The set-up with Junior Jam was unique, in that I had never worked remotely from an employer.  I naturally felt nervous on my first day. New school, new people and a whole new area to teach. Thankfully, I had a colleague assigned to work with me on my first day. Show me the ropes you can say. My colleague was my guardian angel. A true professional who not only showed me how it's done but with the offer of support, tips and ideas to help me in my own journey.

The school I was assigned was large with lots of new faces to remember. The staff and children seemed friendly and allowed me to find my feet. My line manager from Junior Jam visited me on my second day. This again was extremely useful in supporting me to feel able to deliver the sessions at a standard that was expected.  Over the weeks, I applied what I had picked up from both my Junior Jam colleagues and other teachers within the school.

I picked up on how to manage the class and deal with common issues with each class. As I felt more comfortable with the classes, I sensed the learning and delivery of my classes flow better.  

It's coming up to half term.  Looking back, I've had an amazing seven weeks of working with some fantastic children and adults.  Working with teachers who are inspirational and have so much passion for what they do. I am also getting comfortable with my superhero complex. As I walk through the corridors, I can hear children wisper....there's the iPad Man. ...This makes me smile.
