Holiday Club at Wooldale Community Centre

Last week I was the support staff at our holiday club in Holmfirth. The club was based at Wooldale Community Centre and it was funded by Kirklees Council.

I was joined by Liam our Media Instructor and Danny our P.E/Martial Arts instructor. This club was really enjoyable to be at, although it was a smaller venue compared to some of the other clubs we ran over summer, everything ran really smoothly, and the kids were lovely.

Every morning we kicked off the club with our famous Junior Jam Dodgeball. The kids were obsessed. If they could have played Dodgeball all day, they would have done, they loved it.

This club ran from 10am-2pm so we packed it full of fun activities. For Media, they started the week making their own movie trailers, we took them outside to shoot some things and this was really fun. Liam then taught them some animation on the iPads, again this went down really well. The boys loved this.

Danny taught some kickboxing sessions at this club, and this was a huge success. Although, I don’t think they were too happy about the 50 sit ups and 50 burpees for the warmup! They all listened and followed his instructions really well during this. At the end of the club when we asked for feedback, a lot of the children said they loved doing the kickboxing as it is something they have never done before.

All in all it was a great week, the kids were so lovely and really well behaved. Getting the great feedback from them makes you feel good.
